Ted Wilkins, Asst. Coach

2021

Ted Wilkins has been loyal contributor to Goldendale High athletics all his life. Ted was an outstanding high school athlete lettering in four sports, football, baseball, basketball, and track. He was named Athlete of the Year both his junior and senior years. After a 2-year stint coaching the Goldendale eighth graders under head coach Ron Rowe, Ted finished his degree at Central and returned to Goldendale to teach Math and Chemistry until his teaching retirement in 2016.

During his tenure at Goldendale, Ted also coached football and golf. Between 1990- 2013 the Timberwolves’ head coaching chair was filled by four different men, Dick Patzer, Mike Carlquist, Jay Thacker, and Lance Denboer. During those 23 years Coach Wilkins served as the JV coach, advising each coach while growing from each one’s expertise. Ted then moved one chair over and served as head coach from 2014-2017. He says every year was filled with fun and adventure. Coach Wilkins estimates that he coached over 260 basketball players, one of which was his son, Callan. Watching him play high school ball was one of the many highlights in a long tenure on the Goldendale Timberwolves’ bench.
