Coach Mullen had the opportunity to teach and coach at one Junior High School, Stewart Junior High in Tacoma and five High Schools, Curtis, Decatur (where he was the first head coach in Basketball, Track and Cross Country), Olympia, Bellarmine, and Bethel (where he taught and coached for 20 years).
While at these schools he taught English, History, Psychology,
Sociology and Physical Education and Coached Basketball, Track and Cross Country.
Along the way he met and made many lasting friendships and although he does not see them nearly enough, he would like to thank them for making his life very rewarding and fulfilling.
His dedication and ability to draw the best out of student athletes both on and off the court left a lasting impression on all he worked with. He drew on strength and made athletes reach levels they never thought possible. He took a personal interest in his athletes and helped them with post high school goals and plans.
Proud moments are watching his entire family involved in the field of education and making great strives in being very successful.
