Gary Archer, Asst. Coach

2021

Gary was born and raised in Ephrata, WA. He attended Spokane Community College in 1966 where he was the leading hitter on the first baseball team in school history. He and that team are enshrined in the SCC Athletic Hall of Fame. Archer graduated with a BS in Education from Eastern Oregon University in 1970 and is also a member of Eastern Oregon’s athletic Hall of Fame.

Gary gave 25 years to the Ephrata basketball program from 1972-

1999. He was the J.V coach during one of the most successful runs in program history, including eight state tournament appearances and the school’s first state title in 1993. He had an undefeated J.V team during his tenure, and suffered only one losing season.

Gary also used his talent as an artist to create numerous t-shirt and uniform designs, the official “Tiger” logo displayed at center court and many signs and program covers.

Archer was a 3-time nominee for the “Who’s Who in American Teachers” award and also was an assistant baseball coach for the highly successful Ephrata baseball program for 30 years. In September of this year Gary will be inducted into the Ephrata High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
