In his 29 years as Head Coach, his career record is 464-281. Don’s first job was at Cheney High School where he coached for 8 years (1958-66) and a 105-66 record. At Pasco High School (1967-76) he was 161-66. He then was an assistant for two years at Michigan State University before getting the job at the University of Idaho. In his 5 years at Idaho (1978-83), he was 100-41. Don then became the Head Coach at the University of Oregon (1983-) compiling a record of 97-109. While at Pasco, his teams won five district titles and finished second twice in the State Tournament in 1970 and 1971. In the 1981-82 season at Idaho, Don was named Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He also earned District Coach of the Year honors and Big Sky plaudits for the second straight year.
