During his 31 years of coaching basketball his record was 457-270. That included 18 years at the collegiate level, and 13 at the high school level. Directed WWU to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament in 1972 and an overall record of 26-4—both accomplishments were school bests. Coached Western to the NAIA District 1 championship in 1972, NAIA District 1 Coach of the Year in 1966, 1971 and 1972; and Evergreen Conference Coach of the Year in 1966, 1971, 1972 and 1975. Chuck also invented the SlamDunk Rim, which is now used throughout the country. Chuck was a teacher at Opportunity Grade School, Riverside High School, Lindbergh High School, Freeman High School, Lind High School, El Segundo High School and Western Washington University. Chuck and his wife Doris, have three children: Jennifer, Jeff and John.
