Bruce Hayes, Asst. Coach

Bruce Hayes was born in 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany. He attended Lakes High School where he participated in football, basketball and baseball. Following high school, he attended Centralia Community College where he played basketball. In 1978 he was selected Athlete of the Year at Centralia. Bruce finished his education at Eastern Washington University where he earned a bachelor’s

degree in Education and a Master’s in Education. While at Eastern, Bruce helped with the basketball program at Cheney High School. In 1981 he moved to the west side of the state and assisted at Monroe High School. In 1982, Bruce became at teacher at Pioneer Middle School in Steilacoom. He was the head football coach, basketball coach, and baseball coach. In 1984, Bruce became the assistant coach at Steilacoom High School. He has continued to coach there for the last 28 years. Bruce’s dedication to helping develop young players is a main reason for Steilacoom’s success over the years. Bruce is single and enjoys outdoor activities. He is the son of William P. Hayes and Evelyn Hayes. Bruce’s siblings are Frerechi Hayes, Cedric Hayes and Atrell House.
