Bill Hill

Coach Bill Hill was born in Longview, Washington on December 7, 1930. He attended Longview High school, graduating in the Class of 1949. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent three years serving his country.

Then, on to college. Lower Columbia Junior College was his first stay where he played basketball and baseball. He later transferred to Western Washington State University where he earned his Bachelors Degree in education.

” Bill’s first teaching position was in Benton City, Washington where he taught history and coached basketball and baseball. The next stop was Zillah High School where he taught history while coaching basketball and baseball. His record was 9 wins and 11 losses.

His coaching career took off with his move to Lake Stevens High School where he stayed for seven years and ended with a record of 164 wins and 87 losses, placing Second and Fourth in the state.

Clark Junior College was Coach Hill’s next stop where he coached for six years. Then on to his final teaching and coaching position at Prairie High School where we ended with a record of 33 wins and 35 losses. We placed 7th in the State Tournament.

“At present, I live in the best of two worlds with my wife Karen. We spend our summers on the Oregon Coast, where we have a home, and our winter home is in Sun City Wesâ–ˇ Arizona. I have three grown children, who all live in the Ridgefield and Vancouver area.”
